Norwegian history was made in Sölden during this year's opening alpine ski race.
The alpine season is underway, and what high hopes it brings. The season opener in Sölden ended with three Norwegians at the top of the podium.
The opener could hardly have gone better for the Norwegian guys. Alexander Steen Olsen led after the first run, kept his nerves in check, and claimed his first giant slalom victory. Not only that, but he was joined on the podium by Henrik Kristoffersen and Atle Lie McGrath, painting Sölden in red, white, and blue. And let's not forget that Lucas Pinheiro Bråthen, starting from a late bib number, finished fourth. It's shaping up to be an amazing alpine season! What a comeback!
Even though March 15 and 16 are far off, and a lot can happen over a long season, this is an incredibly promising start, and hopefully a glimps of what this season will give us. In addition to those 3, the Norwegian team also includes a few more stars, like Timon Haugan, Rasmus Windingstad and a few new youngsters like Jesper Wahlqvist, Kaspar Kindem, Halvor Hilde Gunleiksrud and Fredrik Møller. And for the Sunday Slalom the World Champion Sebastion Foss Solevåg will join the team as well.
So we are already looking forward to welcome the Norwegian racers and the rest of the world to Hafjell, March 15 and 16, and we hope that you will join us in our goal to create an unforgetable few days in Norway.
