An exciting winter ahead
"We are now being noticed internationally, and it’s clear that we are in for a very exciting season," says Claus Johan Ryste, the sports director for alpine skiing at the Norwegian Ski Federation.
Not only has Norway’s alpine team delivered strong sports results in recent years, but the upcoming season also includes the most extensive World Cup calendar ever held on Norwegian soil, with three race weekends in Gudbrandsdalen. Recently, Norway was also awarded the World Championships in Narvik. Additionally, Norway will take on organizing several races in the European Cup. Gudbrandsdalen has already started selling tickets for the winter’s highlights in February and March.
"It’s incredible what we have achieved. This winter, there will be at least seven World Cup races, probably eight, since we are officially set to take over any canceled speed races. It’s going to be three weeks of fantastic performances and truly unique side events, and we’ve already sold many tickets. There’s a lot of interest in what we’re organizing, and we can promise three weeks of celebration. The organizing company has gained a unique international position, and no one else has more races than us in the coming season," says Ole Kristian Kirkerud, managing director of Hafjell–Kvitfjell Alpin AS.
